What this is

Markdown is the plain-text shorthand behind half the files you meet now: notes apps, wikis, GitHub readmes, AI workspaces, this era's paperwork. Type # and you've made a heading. Type ** around a word and it comes out strong. The marks are small on purpose, so the raw text still reads like plain writing.

Most Markdown teaching hands you a dry table of symbols and wishes you luck. This lesson hands you a dragon instead. Section by section, you type the marks and watch a dragon profile render in front of you: its territory, its habits, its feeding log, its field-guide entry. The marks stop being symbols to memorise and become the thing that made your dragon appear.

I made this because I learned Markdown this way myself, one mark at a time with a dragon growing under my hands, and it stuck where the symbol tables never did. Everything on #-my shelf earns its place at my own desk first.

What do I need to use it?
A modern browser for lesson one, and any free code editor for lesson two (the practice file walks you through the editor steps one at a time). A PDF reader for the printables. It all works offline once downloaded.
Do I need to know anything about code first?
No. The lesson starts at what markup even is and never assumes a past life in software. Real terms are taught, not dodged, so you finish knowing what the words mean.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes. The household licence covers homeschool use, the tone is friendly without talking down, and the dragon does the motivating. Younger learners may want a grown-up nearby for the editor setup in lesson two.
What if it isn't right for me?

Can I use what I write in my own projects?
